Home drug testing kits allow people to check the presence of metabolites of the following narcotic substances: Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA or ecstasy), Cannabinoids (marijuana, hashish - tests for metabolite THCCOOH), Amphetamines (amphetamine, methamphetamine), Cocaine (cocaine, benzoylecgonine, cocaethylene) - tests for cocaine metabolite), Benzodiazepines (BZO), Opiates (heroin, opium, codeine, morphine, 6-MAM), Phencyclidine (PCP), Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA), Methadone (MTD), Barbiturates (BAR). Federal narcotic testing guidelines established by NIDA/SAMHSA endue official laboratories to hold "NIDA-5" drug tests. These tests include five narcotic substances groups which are not topical for current drug usage patterns. These days if a person wants to undergo an independent drug testing procedure, he can do it in a privacy of his home or at professional laboratories. Laboratories provide reliable confidential results. Individual can test himself or his relatives (e.g. children) for presence of various substances including prescription medications: Hydrocodone (Vicodin), Oxycodone (Percocet, Oxycontin), Oxymorphone, Hydromorphone, benzodiazepines (Valium, Klonopin, Xanax, Restoril). Though testing for Ketamine is uncommon, nowadays it is possible to pass this test at laboratories if one interested in the results. There is another unusual for testing medicine – Gamma-hydroxy-butyrate (GHB). In the early 1990s it was not tested for, but now, some laboratories have added GHB-test as an optional test. Meperidine (Demerol), propoxyphene, methadone and fentanyl are also not commonly tested for. Hallucinogens such as peyote (mescaline), LSD, mushrooms (psilocybin) are rarely tested for. In general, the greater the number of narcotic substances targeted, the more laboratory will charge individual for the test, that’s why people choose only substances they really want (e.g. their children) to be tested for.
